After a massive backlash following this years E3 conference, and some of the things said by Don Mattrick involving the use game and online connection policies involved in the Xbox One, Mattrick has now come out with a full turnaround. The update article on Xbox.com entitled “Your Feedback Matters – Update on Xbox One” reads a lot like an apology letter, and doesn’t waste too much time before revealing the two big changes they are going to be making before the Xbox One hits shelves. In addition to these two changes, the article goes on to say that they will be removing a lot of the changes they made as part of their previous policies. For example, they were going to use a system that would allow you to share your entire game library with up to 10 friends, so long as only one person was playing any one game at a time. This will be removed and replaced with the current system of sharing games with your friends via the disk, and the removal of the ability to share downloaded games. Essentially, Microsoft are saying “we tried to change the way you play games, you didn’t like it, so ...

The opening few moments of Metro: Last Light set the tone for the entire game. As you and your fellow Ruskie chums sit casually by the fire discussing Metro events in the damaged and inoperable underground system, a permanent nuclear winter scars and ravages the streets and buildings of Moscow above you. That said, the danger isn’t limited to the outside, as in the blink of an eye the lights go dark and you’re having to defend your home from beasts tainted and evolved by the radioactive conditions. In that one moment, as the recovered Kalashnikovs fire and the screams echo along the tunnel, you get a chilling feel for the everyday lives of the inhabitants of Last Light. That same chilling sense of atmosphere and environment was the one redeeming feature of 2010′s lackluster shooter/survival game, which I have been lucky enough to play (if not finish, it wasn’t quite worth it) in addition to reading the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Luckily for this iteration the main issues have been solved, the controls feel much less clunky and clumsy, the graphics have gone from sub-par to next-gen, and the AI and fighting is much grittier and personal. However, to fully ...

Dead Island developer Techland is back at it again with another open world zombie game, Dying Light. Think Mirror’s Edge and Infmaous combined with zombies, which actually sounds pretty awesome. Watch the debut trailer down below. About Dying Light “Dying Light is a first-person, action survival horror game by Techland set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, players traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning’s first light. Dying Light will launch for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2014.”

When Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was released last February for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it was missing a PC version. Konami has announced that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be coming to the PC soon, via digital download. Konami has said “ the in-game technology will push the boundaries of graphics, style and lightning-speed action at a blistering 60fps on most modern PCs”. Although no release date was announced for the PC, we can only assume the game will be available soon as Konami has said.
One of the things I’ve enjoyed about Season 3 so far is that emphasis they have put on the finer points of Westeros. The religions, the laws and noticeably, the music. All of which have been building up to support the events of this episode, events which are heavily discussed among readers of the books and quite often spoiled for people who haven’t. If you managed to watch this episode without having the events in it spoiled for you somewhere along the way, that’s no small feat, and I hope you’ve stopped shaking madly and had time to let it all sink in. Okay, I can’t take it any longer, lets just get into it. *MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!* You better be! The Twins So after travelling for what seems like forever, Robb and Catelyn and the rest of the Stark party have finally reached The Twins, the home of Walder Frey and his rather massive family. Walder Frey has always been an interesting character to me. People speak about him as being this very ruthless and bitter old man, but shine the right light on him and he has other aspects. For example, he’s had about 6 wives, each giving ...

The Fable series has been either a hit or miss with gamers, mostly a miss. While the games have been fun to a degree, they haven’t lived up to the hype. I’ve enjoyed the Fable games in the past, (up to Fable 2) however it seems the series has gone downhill over the years. We all remember how awful Fable: The Journey was. Well it seems Lionhead Studios has launched a brand new forum for the Fable series. “Join fans from across the globe to discuss all things Fable; from the latest news & announcements to guides, walkthroughs and fan content. Wherever your interests lie, you’re bound to find the perfect bunch of people to discuss them with.” Lionhead Studios posted on their blog It may seem a bit odd that Lionhead Studios would launch a forum for the Fable games, considering there hasn’t been a major Fable game released in some time. Users on the forum have already began speculating on the next Fable game. User KattAnira posted “Lionhead opens a Fable forum? Right before E3? This has got to be something good! Why on earth would they launch a Fable forum at this moment if they weren’t planning anything Fable-ish to happen soon? I’m more ...

The idea of having a story as intricate as Game of Thrones’, with characters here there and everywhere all doing their own separate things that all interlock in little ways, can sometimes be a little bit confusing. In past episodes I’ve said that the story moves around too much, that doing little 1 minute segments with one character or another can feel like its just filler, and not particularly interesting to watch. But in Second Sons, I was delighted by how the episode seemed to stay in just a few places and focus on a few particular events rather than trying to keep the story going in 7 or 8 different places with a dozen different main characters. Lets get into the play by play. *Spoiler Alert* The Riverlands We start with a small but interesting segment with Arya and The Hound. After being captured by him in the last episode, we could be forgiven for thinking Arya was in some pretty big trouble, but this segment worked to remind us that The Hound is not Joffrey’s attack dog any more. Arya thinks he’s taking her back to King’s Landing, but actually he’s taking her North to The ...
